Briana Vogt named Assistant Band Director

The Franklin Band is proud to welcome Briana Engelbert Vogt as Assistant Band Director!

An acclaimed euphoniumist, Mrs. Vogt received her Bachelor of Music Education degree at Tennessee Tech University, where she studied with the illustrious R. Winston Morris and met her husband, Austin Vogt.  She then traveled in India, England, Paris and Amsterdam, learning about diverse music cultures, teaching masterclasses, and studying with euphonium virtuoso Steven Mead.  She earned her Master of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she was under the tutelage of the famed Dan Perantoni.  She was also Associate Instructor of Brass Instrument Techniques and co-taught the Lab Band at IU.

Mrs. Vogt was a member of the highly acclaimed Marian Catholic High School Band and marched as part of the team that brought the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps back into Div. I and DCI Finals.

As a euphoniumist, Mrs. Vogt has performed at Carnegie Hall twice and has performed solo works with multiple ensembles, including the IU Wind Ensemble and TTU Tuba Ensemble and Wind Ensemble.  She currently plays professionally as the Solo Euphoniumist with the Southern Stars Brass Band and also enjoys playing with community ensembles on euphonium and trombone.  She is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the International Tuba Euphonium Association.

“Mrs. Vogt is bringing energy, experience, and incredible brass pedagogical skills that are going help the Franklin Band continue and strengthen its goals,” said Director Jacob Campos. “We have already started working hard as a team, and I can truly say she is going to be great for the Franklin Band and community! Welcome!”

“The Franklin Band already has a reputation of success and excellence,” said Mrs. Vogt. “I’m excited to be a part of the team that will build upon this legacy while guiding the Franklin Band toward even higher standards of excellence.”
